Why
Wood Fired?
Our brick ovens enhance the natural flavors of our quality
ingredients and gives our pizza great wood fired taste unlike
anywhere else. Our sandwiches are delicious on fresh baked
focaccia bread, and our salads are made with only the freshest
local greens.
At Brixx we care about more than just great pizza, we also care
about our community. We recycle everything possible, which is
why almost all of beers are on tap. Each year in Charlotte the
Hit the Brixx 5 Mile Run raises thousands of dollars for Hospice
of Charlotte. Brixx also supports Girls on the Run and local
YMCA programs. Ask your local store about how to raise money for
your school, church or club through the Brixx Bucks for
education program.
We invite you to visit us at the location nearest you. And, if
you can’t come to us, Brixx catering will come to you.
So, hit the Brixx … and enjoy yourself.
History
The original Brixx opened in 1998 in the historic Dilworth
neighborhood of Charlotte. A Colorado ski vacation inspired
operating partner Eric Horsley to create a brick-oven pizza
restaurant. Eric shared his idea with managing partners, Jeff
Van Dyke and Barbara Bodford-Morgan, and together they created
Brixx.
“In developing Brixx, we tried to learn from all our combined
past restaurant experience. We tried to include all the fun
stuff and leave out the headaches. Everybody loves great pizza
and good beer, so we try to keep it simple and fun,” says Van
Dyke. “That’s why Brixx has such a casual, relaxed feel.
Majority partner, Harding Stowe had only one request when Brixx
was under development, and that was “to have the best pizza in
Charlotte.” That goal has been achieved as Brixx has been voted
best pizza by the readers of Creative Loafing, Charlotte
Magazine and the Charlotte Observer. We hope to
be in your neighborhood soon!"
